Optimara Oneida

I have been trying to get Optimara Oneida for three years. Very few people are selling it on Ebay. The only person who is selling won't send to Canada.

I even tried to buy from Selective Gardener but they won't send to Canada either.

I managed to buy a leaf from someone who would send to Canada, but the leaves were not in good condition when I purchased them and did not survive.

So I am STILL looking especially hard for Optimara Oneida. I'll pay...

Shipping leaves: To wrap or NOT to wrap?

So confession right up front: I joined the Fall Swap Buddies Round Robin. :)

Do you think cut stems should be wrapped with dampened paper towel/napkin or not?

I've recieved them both wrapped & unwrapped... and kind of thought wrapped made it through the mail best.

Still having trouble with some of my most recent arrivals (that were wrapped) and then spent 7 days in mail system...tissue dried out - but did wrapping...

Variety "Doofus"

Am Looking for African Variety called "Doofus" -- yep, it's a real one, listed in FC2, hybridizer M. Corrigan. Just like the name. Cannot find anywheres. Would love to have just to be able to legitimately call a violet a "Doofus" . My collection is in quarantine right now, but I have some real goodies that I'd be willing to trade. Have a couple baby Alamo Flame and Buckeye Butterflies not involved in quarantine... And a couple Ness' Fantasy Gold...

Ness' White Bear

I have searched all the on-line vendors and an on-line african violet swap group trying to find a source for Ness' White Bear. The only source I knew of was Smith Cottage. One of the reasons for getting over there last month when I heard they were going out of business was to make sure I had a Ness' White Bear. Unfortunately, they have already closed out this variety.

There may be better white varieties over-all for a display african violet. But I don't know of a better...
