I am sitting at my pc listening to Christmas music. Yes, I am already into the holidays.

Today I put the lights on the house (I will turn them on in a few weeks). I went shopping for some new soil today. I told myself "NO" to get busy today with all my hobbies. Which currently are plants(always), stained glass, glass etching, hosta hybridizing, and of course salt water fish.

What Books are you Reading in your Leisure Time?

My favorite author is Phillipa Gregory. She writes under three names. Victoria Holt, Jean Plaidy and Phillipa Gregory. These are all historical romances. Phillipa Gregory write about the royal families and some of it is factual. Victoria Holt write suspense/with a touch of Romance. Jean Plaidy writes historical as well.

Anyway, I went to ebay and found a huge amount of books by these three authors who are really the same person. So I purchased the books. They were...

It looks like Mrs. John has been busy!
We have new african violets pictured on the Welcome Page, and in the A V Talk.

I don't know what that lavender beauty is on the Welcome Page, but I do recognize

Here I am again - cheering because it is Friday!! My smileys are not working this morning or I would insert one here, so use your imagination. Yesterday evening I raked leaves and now my sinus' are stopped up! I've got alot of official work to do today, art club tonight, and tomorrow we are going to the lake, probably for the last time this year. We may try to fish depending on how the worms look. I guess I could use a lure and try for the bass if the worms...

In a few minutes, I will enjoy a cup of decaf and the Sunday paper. My oldest daughter, who lives with us, is moving to Texas, and each day I get up and wonder if this is the day. She will let us know the day she leaves. She is not a planner, other than in broad terms. I'm use to it, but it drives the rest of the family crazy. I'm going to miss her. She is leaving her parrot, Rudy, behind because the bird is getting too old for cross country travel. This is Rudy's...

It is Friday again, and boy am I glad!! I've been watering violets - seems they are drying out quicker or I am not paying good attention to how long it has been. It's raining leaves again today, but they sure are pretty, especially the yellows this year. My oak leaf hydrangea has the most beautiful orange/red leaves. I think I will take the grandchildren to the lake to a Halloween party tonight. I was hoping to go fishing tomorrow, but I am afraid it will be...

Hi everyone--just catching up. At the beginning of the month, I had a nasty fall at work--broke my nose and wrecked my right leg, which became quite infected--still not totally healed, and now, there may be a problem with the right knee. As if that wasn't enough, last week, I awoke at 2am with chest pain, unable to breathe---off to the hospital I went and spent several days there--lots of tests and meds. So here I sit, wondering "what next?", and how long it's going to take...

I went by my favorite nursery on Saturday, just to see if they had anything on the AV shelf I cannot live without ...dissapointlingly, they did not. I know I do not have room for any newbies right now, but sometimes the urge to see a new flower just takes over.
I have seen a few of my own that don't look too good! I am going to be gone for two days, so I will have to put off doing something about them. Also have a light unit that went out during the day...

Hi all!
Well, I have been gone so long, I wonder if anyone remembers who MrsJohn is?
Things have been going okay, just a VERY MIXED UP summer!
I will say, among the weeds that grew up by the front step until my hubby went out and pulled them away so he could see out the window..... I did take time for my violets! They didn't get perfect care, but they are blooming and reasonably happy....

Harvest Moon

I posted about the Harvest Moon on 10/4 but I didn't get to see it, and not tonight either. It is so cloudy, I cannot even see the sky!
I am so disappointed because here, the big orange moon coming up over the eastern Blue Ridge mountains, is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in the sky.

Why doesn't anyone post anymore? I'm guilty too. My excuse is I'm not really "into" AVs right now. What have you all been doing? Have you done anything that you really enjoyed in the past few months? Have you experienced something you could share?
