A plantlet growing on a flower stalk of SUN RAY TRAIL, chimera. These are called BASKETS.
A basket is a sucker which has grown from a flower stem. On some varieties these happen frequently. HAWAIIAN TRAIL has had so many baskets I don't bother reproducing them.
Not all varieties will have baskets. That statement should be said another way. Most varieties do not make baskets on flower stems. If you look carefully you may find one developing on one of your plants. They are a frequent occurance on my plants.
To propogate a plant from a basket, remove the flower stem after the flower has faded, cut the stem of the basket about one inch and push delicately into the soil. Identify baby and Cover pot. Before you know it the baby roots and becomes a plant.
